I’m a Portland, Oregon-based editor with nearly 20 years of experience in culture and lifestyle journalism, which has meant doing everything from red-carpet celebrity interviews and movie reviews to, at Vox Media’s Eater, covering the national dining scene and playing with the boundaries of what constitutes “food writing.”

Awards aren’t everything, but I was part of the editorial team that won the 2022 National Magazine Award for Lifestyle Journalism, and led the team of journalists that won the 2016 James Beard Foundation Media Award for Visual Storytelling. Stories I’ve edited have been recognized with additional nominations from the ASMEs, James Beard Media Awards, IACP Awards, and awards in Best American Food Writing.

My ideal meal is two dozen raw oysters with a side of disco fries (what can I say, I’m originally from New Jersey).
